Nipple Reconstruction
What is Nipple Reconstruction?
Rebuilding the nipple and areola is the final stage of breast reconstruction for many women, and can make a significant difference to the overall result. Nipple reconstruction is typically performed as a minor procedure under local anaesthetic once the reconstructed breast has settled into its final shape - usually several months after the main reconstruction. Tattooing of the areola, performed by a specialist medical tattooist, can then be arranged to complete the result.
Not all women choose to have nipple reconstruction, and it is entirely optional. Your surgeon will discuss the options with you when the time is right.
